Pako & the Green bag (2 bags)

2190 SEK

A bag for the conscious consumer and her / his lifestyle .

This beautiful bamboo bicycle bag / basket is handmade by Pako folks in Vietnam, designed by Josefine who met the group during the years she lived in Vietnam.

Charming and easy to carry as a bag or on your bicycle. You attach the bag to the bicycle with the leather straps included. The set includes a fabric bag and a bamboo basket. They are designed to sit together but can be detached from each other, both can be used separately and are as beautiful in themselves.

Each piece of bamboo basket is uniquely handcrafted and all of them have their own unique character shaped by one pair of hands. The bamboo and rattan are sourced in the area where the Pako group live and are processed by hand by the group. The colour of the bamboo and rattan might differ and adds to the nature of each unique piece of basket.

The project is a collaboration between me and a small Pako group to make a unique product which will help them increase their income.

Pako is one of many minority groups in Vietnam's highlands. The group I work with live in one of Vietnam´s poorest provinces - Quang Tri is in far North Central of Vietnam. It is also where the most fierce battle was fought during the 21 years of the American War.

At the moment its 4 pair of hands producing the baskets, a small production but we hope to be able to increase it soon. We work in close collaboration to try to make this a profitable project.

Hon träffade gruppen under åren hon bodde i Vietnam.

Sys i Hoi An Vietnam.

Storlekarna är ungefärliga: Bambukorg: H 35-38cm, B: 34-38 cm, D när den är stängd: 14-15cm.

Form - a nomad design studio

Based nowhere and everywhere.

The production is the heart of my design work. Handmade interior & fashion products in bamboo & rattan for a conscious lifestyle. For consumers who value ethical consumption & a transparent value chain.

My mission is to create products using the technique, visual language and craftsmanship in the area I am working in to develop products for a contemporary clientèle. I strive for high quality and the mix of my Scandinavian design heritage with cultural influences in other parts of the world produces a unique product. For me, the quality and integrity of the craftsmen who create my products are of highest importance. For this reason, I have a nomad design studio. I ensure my knowledge of an area by being there, on the spot, in person.

The founder of Form - a nomad design studio is me Elin Josefine Olsson, I set up the studio the summer 2014 in Vietnam. I am a Swedish designer who studied at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. I have been living in Vietnam since October 2012.

During my last year in university I wrote a Manifesto which goes something like this:
My aim is to work with art and design in developing countries together with local craftsman, making objects for a contemporary audience, by finding inspiration in other cultures and their history.

This is still my core reason to be here and the reason I started Form – a nomad design studio. I want to bring you a piece of the soul of the place where we are operating, produced by people I know in a way I know. I want you as a customer to be sure that your product comes from "good hands".

Best,

Josefine
